Investing and supporting: the Moroccan startup ecosystem

More than 2,000 startups and a record 6.6 billion dirhams raised by funds in 2025: an ecosystem taking shape.

Morocco has more than 2,000 registered startups. In 2025, private equity funds raised 6.6 billion dirhams there, a record amount. The country also reaches its best-ever ranking in the Global Innovation Index, 57th.

Several organisations structure this ecosystem. La French Tech Casablanca brings together founders, investors and talent, and connects Morocco to the global French Tech network. The 212Founders programme, launched in 2019 by CDG Invest, funds and supports startups linked to Morocco and Africa.

On the French side, Bpifrance opened an office in Casablanca in 2022 to cover North Africa, and the AFD Group, for which Morocco is the leading country of operation, is running around a hundred projects there.

For a project owner as for an investor, the question is no longer whether the ecosystem exists, but how to position oneself in it. A good map of the players saves time.
